Overland Travel Tips

🗓️

Best Time to Visit

December to April is dry season — ideal for beach roads and river crossings. May to November brings lush green landscapes and fewer crowds, but some roads get challenging.

🛣️

Road Conditions

Many of the best spots require dirt roads, river crossings, and rocky tracks. Our 4x4 trucks are built for it — but leave early and check local conditions before heading into remote areas.

🏕️

Where to Sleep

With our campers you are not only tied to paid camp grounds. Wild camping along all of Costa Rica's beaches is legal and enjoyed by both locals and travelers, with many national parks allowing camping.

💧

Water & Supplies

Costa Rica has excellent tap water in most areas, but carry extra when heading into remote zones. Stock up on groceries in larger towns — small villages have limited supplies.

📡

Connectivity

Cell coverage is surprisingly good on main routes. In deep jungle or coastal extremes, expect dead zones. Download offline maps before leaving and let someone know your itinerary.

🦎

Wildlife Encounters

Costa Rica has 5% of the world's biodiversity. Drive slowly on jungle roads at dawn and dusk. Keep food sealed in the truck and never feed wildlife — no matter how cute.
